Best's Carmine Stain Recipe

1. Add the following to 75ml of distilled water
• 2.5g Carmine
• 1.25g Potassium carbonate
• 6.25g Potassium chloride
2. Heat to solution from step 1 to a gentle boil until dissolved
3. Cool solution from step 2
4. Add 25ml of concentrated ammonia to the solution from step 3
5. Store at 4^oC

Best's Carmine stain is used for selectively staining glycogen.
