Melzer's reagent is a stain used to study the cellular structure of fungi.

  1. Dissolve 1.5g of KI to 20ml of distilled water
  2. Dissolve 0.5g of iodine in the solution from step 1
  3. Dissolve 20g of chloral hydrate in the solution from step 2
