Nitrosomonas europaea Medium Recipe

1. Combine solutions 1, 2 and 3. Dispense aseptically into desired aliquots.

Solution 1

1. Combine the following in 1.2 L distilled water:
   • 4.95g (NH₄)₂SO₄
   • 0.62g KH₂PO₄
   • 0.27g MgSO₄ x 7 H₂O
   • 0.04g CaCl₂ x 2 H₂O
   • 0.5ml 30mM FeSO₄/50mM EDTA
   • 0.2mg CuSO₄ x 5 H₂O
2. Filter sterilize.

Solution 2

1. Combine the following in 300ml distilled water:
   • 8.2g KH₂PO₄
   • 0.7g NaH₂PO₄
2. Adjust pH to 10.4 with 10M NaOH.
3. Filter sterilize.

Solution 3

1. Combine the following in 12ml distilled water:
   • 0.6g Na₂CO₃ anhydrous
2. Filter sterilize.
